Default 2000 Malibu, Programming keyless remote

I need some help programming the keyless entry (key fob, remote) for my Malibu. I have tried the instructions here but it doesn't seem to work. I do not hear any returning beep from my car.

I don't really want to take the car into a dealership because they generally charge an arm and a leg even for simple things. Has anyone taken theirs to a dealership to be programmed? How much did it cost?

Welcome to the forum. You need to take it to a shop with a scan tool than can program the key fob in. I don't know what kind of hourly rates are in your area but the job only takes 15 minutes or so. Automotive locksmiths are another option. If you can take your vehicle in instead of them making a house call, it'll cost you less.

Thumbs up Correct Key Fob Programming For '00 Malibu

NO you don't have to take it to the dealer there is NOTHING to scan. Here is the proper method it worked in my car:

1)Get in close the doors.
2)Hold the unlock button up.
3)Put the key in the ignition tumbler, take it out and put it back in leave it in don't turn it you will hear 3 courtesy chimes from the dash. This means you have entered programming mode.
4)Release the door unlock switch.
5)Press and hold BOTH the lock/unlock buttons on the new FOB simultaneously until you hear 3 more courtesy chimes that confirms programming.
6)New FOB is ready!
