2001 Malibu - Power Steering Problem
I have a problem that just happened without warning. My car started to make a horrible noise and then the power steering went out. After adding fluid, I noticed that little specs of small particles, like dust, were flying around. Then I noticed that the power steering pulley is disintegrating. The hole in the middle of the pulley is almost worn through.
So, my question is: Is it just the pulley or the pulley and pump? I have never replaced anything like this before, so I need to know if a novice can do this or should I get it repaired - Pepboys told me it would be $209 for the pump (the only place open today).
Are there any instructions with diagrams that I can get online (free) that can show me what I have to do, if I fix this myself?
Thank you for your help
