2002 chevy malibu fuel problems
The car just quit today driving down the road. I replaced the fuel filter and do not hear the pump starting up. Is there a way to reset it if security is an issue or is there some other way to check pump? Help.

Try disconnecting the negative battery cable overnight. This will reset all the modules ( including the BCM - security ) if you think that's it.
In the morning re -attach the battery cable and see if the pump turns on.

I would get under the hood and take a look in the power distribution panel. There you'll find the fuel pump relay and the fuse. See if the fuse is okay and if you get power to the relay with the key ON.
If you can't hear the pump running, I'm pretty sure that you can hear the relay click when you turn on the key. The relay is the gray one next to where the cover screw goes, and the fuse is next to that. (unless they changed it between '99 and '02)
