Default 2002 malibu problem

Leaving the store yesterday i return to my car to find it will not start. Not turning over or anything. Had a friend come and jump me still nothing. We ended up pushing the car out of the parking lot and it started up just fine. Took the car to an auto store to have the battery tested and the battery is fine. Same thing today now, car will not start. Wont even turn over.

Could this not even be a battery problem? Please help!

It could be the neutral safety switch, play with your shifter a little to see if it may be that, it could be sensing that its in reverse etcc.. Id look at all your battery connections as well, make sure they are all tight and clean.

Did you have power on the accessories, lights & such?

I would bet your starter is failing.

The starter is a rather common issue with these cars in particular. I've never heard a case of the neutral safety switch going bad. The starter has potential to be a pain in the butt unless you are mechanically "skilled". Its just in a tight place where everything is pretty much a "feel" operation. The only place it will really be visible from is up top and unless you have some skinny arms, you aren't reaching it.

If you need directions on installing it let me know and I'll help you out. Basically, its 2 bolts and 3 wires.

Is the starter solenoid built into the starter on these models?
