Default 2003 Chevy Malibu open trunk button

Does anyone know of a good way to disable the trunk-open button (located left of the steering wheel) on this car?

I'd like to make it difficult for someone breaking into my car to access my trunk contents. Also, sometimes I like to leave windows open on a hot day when I run to the store, but I don't want someone reaching in and popping the trunk open.

Is there a way to do this without destroying anything?

Unplug the switch connector. Or the fuse. If you unplug the switch connector you might still be able to access the trunk using your remote instead of your key. Not sure though. Never tried.

Thanks. I should have realized there was a fuse for this, but didn't. Pulled the fuse... that's good enough.

No problem. Like I was saying though, with the fuse pulled you won't be able to access your trunk using the key less entry. So it may be convenient for you to pull the connector off the plug when you get more time. Then stick the switch back in the dash.
