2006 chevy malibu
last night when i got in my car it started out fine but as i kept driving it began to mess up. When i hit the gas pedal it was not getting any power and was not going any faster it actually started to slow down and eventually it wouldn't respond to pushing the gas pedal. It would not acclerate. An intermediate mechanic mentioned that it might be in a fail safe mode? or that it might need transmission fluid. I added transmission fluid to it this morning and it works a little better but it is not working properly. can anybody tell me whats wrong wit it
Welcome to the forum.
I have to ask. What's an "intermediate mechanic" and did this person actually take a look at your vehicle? As to "whats wrong wit it," I don't think anyone can tell sight unseen. I rather think you ought to get is serviced before you do real damage. One way of ruining a transmission is overfilling.

I also suggest taking the vehicle in for an inspection. The technician will be able to monitor the TFP switch, and should be offer additional information/solution.
Please keep us posted.

Hi,
I've had my 05' Chevy Malibu 2.2L for 3 years. This is the second time I've had acceleration problems with my car(9/2011) and was told I had poor wiring connection at the fuel pump connector and the connector was getting wet. I replaced the wiring and it ran fine but as of the last month and a half, the car hasn't been accelarating when I press on the gas, its jerking, driving hard, and won't accelerate up hills. I've recently in the last week had the catalytic converter replaced complete with the cast iron exhaust manifold and had the spark plugs changed. I got the car back and it's driving better, but the car, from time to time still jerks and won't accelerate even if I press the gas all the way to the floor. I thought replacing the converter would make the problem go away but that isn't it. If someone can give their assessment on this issue that would be great. A boot-leg mechanic told me it may be my fuel modulator...what exactly is that, and what is its functions?

Hello Karenh25
Welcome to the forum
In my opinion it receives digital request based on what the fuel rail pressure sensor is sensing and then uses pulse width modulation to control the fuel pump output to maintain the desired fuel rail pressure.

Karenh25,
I'm sorry to hear about these issues with your Malibu vehicle. I have researched your vehicle, but was unable to find any known acceleration problems with 2005 Malibu vehicles. If you would like, please PM me the last 8-digits of your VIN number, I can check to see if any additional information is available.
Do any warning lights illuminate on the dash when this occurs?
I look forward to your reply.

I have a 2006 Malibu 2.2L ECO engine. My check engine light just came on. I checked the Codes at O'Reilly's Auto Parts and this is what I came up with.
p0130: HO2S Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1
p0134: HO2S Circuit Insufficient Activity Bank 1 Sensor 1
p0128: Eng. Coolant Temp. below T-Stat regulating temp.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
