How do I go about checking transmission oil level on my 2007 Malibu LS with the 2.2 litres 4 cyl engine since there is no dipstick on it

There's a plug above the pan. With the vehicle level and fluid warmed up, it should be filled just enough to drip a little out of that hole. See "FLUID LEVEL SCREW" on the the passenger side view of the 4T40-E (practically the same as the 4T45-E on yours):

 

I will be able to verify the oil level on my transmission once in a while.
