2011 malibu clunking
Ok I realize that this is probably a commonly asked question. I've posted this same thing on the chevy malibu forum as well. We have a 2011 Malibu with roughly 85,000 miles. A few months back I changed the front struts because they were leaking. The car made a clunking noise then and I'm still getting the same clunking now with the new struts. I used monroe quick struts for the new ones. Which ride great. I also changed the sway bar links at the same time. Everything is torqued down, no play in any other front end components either. Sway bar bushings are also good. So here is the kicker. The clunking is coming from the new strut mount. If you put the front of the car on jack stands and then take a floor jack and jack up the control arm to compress the strut assembly and then let it down it clunks every time from the strut mount. Trust me when I say its not anything else, it is the mount. I've also re torqued the center nut that sits inside the mount. Has anyone ever ran into a new strut mount issue like this??
