Default 2018 Chevrolet Malibu

When I Shift my car into park it makes a grinding noise. Is that normal or bad?

Not normal. Likely a bad Sprag gear. Should be covered on warranty.

Just curious. How do you like the auto/stop feature on your 2018 Malibu. I hate the damn thing, and consider it a safety hazard. I would appreciate your comments.

I agree, but GM does this to meet CAFE standards and auto-stop helps that. You can learn to feather the brake at a stop so it doesn't shut down the motor.

I would advise NOT trying to disable auto-stop while on manufacturers warranty. Feathering the brakes can make those brake pads last longer too. Too many people are slamming the brakes HARD at stops, and accelerating up to speed way too fast, IMO. That's also hard on the entire motor, drive-train and brakes. I guess some people have lots of money to burn.

Not exactly the best way to save gasoline or make your brakes last a long time. Gas is EXPENSIVE nowadays, so why waste it unless you are racing someone??.

Also tailgating is way out of bounds these days. At highway speeds that alone can cause an accident and might even get someone killed. It that really worth it?

You can also bypass by driving in L gear and manually putting into 6th gear
