ABC/Brake/TCS Lights all on 2005 malibu
Greetings all!
My girlfriend has a 2005 malibu ls 3.5l that has the ABC/Brake/TCS dash Lights all on. It started about 4-5 months ago when she'd drive through heavy rain..the lights would eventually go off. Now they stay on all the time and I don't think the ABS or TCS are working (although I just "field tested" them in my gravel driveway.) I ran the code and got: B0045 LF/Driver side deployment loop short to ground/voltage out of range (Although I think the scanner said "left Rear Wheel" and Speed Sensor Circuit" I don't remember it saying anything about a short to ground or volt out of range...anyway, I went to the parts store to get a lt rear wheel sensor and he couldn't find the part--I know it's there b/c I saw it from the back of the wheel hub. He then said that there is also a speed sensor on the tranny, but logic told me if the scanner isolated the lt. rear wheel then I should start with that sensor...does anyone see a problem with this or something I'm missing?? All good Ideas welcome!! Thanks!! UPDATE: It looks like the sensor comes with the wheel bearing/Hub assembly...so I guess I'd have to replace the whole thing.

I had the same problem with my 07 chevy malibu ltz i just got, it was under warrenty so i took it to the dealership and they confermed that it was the sensor wire except mine was on the front drivers side, you are correct that you do have to get the hub for it because it is one unit with the sensor but take a look at the wire if its just broken in half like mine was you can probably splice the wires together.
I replaced the rear wheel hub that included a new sensor but the lights stayed on, I reran the code scanner and it still came up with c0045. rear left wheel speed sensor circit. After I tried to erase the code it still said one code remains (C0045)
I looked at the wire and plug and it looks good. I thought I read somewhere that I could use an ohm meter to see if the wires are good. I am not really sure how do do this though, I imagine that I would disconnect the plug from the sensor, stick the pos/neg prongs from the ohm meter in the plug and get the ohm reading. what I don't know is if I do this with the car in the "on" position, do I press the brake to get the reading or if just by connecting the meter to the plug I willl be able to tell if there is a break in the wire? Just thinking outloud here but any suggestions would be welcome!!

The LR wheel speed sensor circuit is as follows:
Terminal A, TAN wire, supply voltage from EBCM terminal A5
Terminal B, ORG wire, sensor signal to EBCM terminal A6
1. Take the electrical connector off the left rear wheel bearing/hub assembly and then inspect to make sure there's no problem with the connectors mating (bent pins, pushed in sockets, etc.).
2. The resistance across the wheel speed sensor itself should be virtually nil.
3. Verify a minimum of 8V on the TAN wire from the EBCM with key on.
4. With key off, take the electrical connector off the EBCM (that's the box with two brake lines going in and four out, below the brake master cylinder) and then verify each of the two wires that go to LR for continuity and short to ground, to voltage, or to each other.
If all this sound Greek to you, please take it in and get it serviced before you get your girlfriend hurt. Oh, you'll need the EBCM connector pin-out to check for continuity:
