Default Airbag fuses, 2005, Malibu, Maxx LS

Hi
Does anybody know how many fuses are used for the airbag electrical system and where they are located? Is there any time period to wait after removing the fuses? Thanks.

There are 2 fuses for the airbag system. They are located in the Instrument Panel Fuse Block

Look at the silver-colored band inside the fuse. If the band is broken or melted, replace the fuse. Be sure you replace a bad fuse with a new one of the identical size and rating.

For your convenience, there is a diagram available in the owner's manual on pages 5-86 & 5-87. A digital copy of the manual is available at: http://www.extendedgmwarranty.com/ow...let-Malibu.pdf

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.

Louis
One other question; does one have to wait a period of time after the fuse has been removed, i.e., is there any residual charge in the electrical system, before it is safe to work in the area? Thanks

You should be fine. If the fuse has blown, there is no electrical charge in the fuse. Just make sure that you replace the fuse with same amperage.
