Default Another question...

I know it's not going to just fit right in there. I am sure a ton of modification is required, but has anyone ever tried to take a 1992 cavalier tranny and put it into our cars? For those who did not know... once upon a time the cavalier shared a 3.1 v6 that is the same as ours.

Don't know about a Cav, but have you heard about the standard tranny from a Saturn Vue working in your Malibu?

You just have to keep in mind that the newer cars have a myriad of sensors. Slip censors, torque converter clutch sensors, etc.

Yep, that is why I wanted to stick with a 92. I figured that was the closest you could get. I don't think I have any intention of actually doing it. If I ever buy another with less miles then sure I would do the swap. I think it would be nice. Think about it. 5speed, then drop it with sprint extreme springs 2.5", change out the struts, make a true STB and rear STB... then performance mods to come. That would be a pretty sweet car. You could do it all without the manual tranny yes, but it would take a lot of fun out of the car.
