Check engine light on when car not started.
Hey everyone,
New Malibu owner here. Just picked up an 06 Malibu LS with 100km and I have what may be a dumb question... When the car is on but not started, I see a check engine light on. I know when the car is on acc. it will illuminate everything on the dash but the check engine light is the only thing on. Once I start the car, it goes away. Should I be worried?

It's not an issue if the light goes off after you start the car and doesn't come back on.
If you are still concerned, take it to a parts shop (Autozone, O'Reilly's, etc) and they'll hook up a code reader to see if any error codes have been thrown. It's free.
