Heater Hose Connector
So I thought I would flush my heater core. My '01 Malibu V6 3.1L wasn't putting out heat and winter is approaching. With the car running at temperature, one heater hose is hot while the other is cold. I took this as a sign of a clogged heater core.
Anyway, I went to remove the heater hose. I found a tip online that said remove the hose clamp on the end of the heater hose up by the top of the engine rather than at the firewall since the firewall connections are so hard to reach.
Removed the spring hose clamp. Tried to gradually work the hose loose from the connector but I broke the plastic nipple. Google search has the replacement part as Dorman 47165 or Gates GAT 28500.
Anyone know how to replace one of these heater hose connectors? They are plastic and I have already done enough damage. Don't want to attempt to remove until I know how (special tool, etc).
Thanks in advance. Good thing I have a four day weekend over Thanksgiving.
