Default Malibu 2001 Trunk Lid

The torsion rod that allows the trunk to open was accidentally dislodged and now I am wondering how I get the bar back on. I know where it hooks into, I just need to know is there a trick to turning the rod to put tension on it and get it back into postion.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
David

this can be a real bugger sometimes to get back in. I have had success using a 10mm boxed end wrench, or a 10mm deep socket with an extension attached to it for leverage

I agree with Shawn. I broke the torsion trunk rod, and had to replace it. The owners manual also shows the dude with a small box wrench. Don't be scared, that bar actually bends almost 90 degrees before it fits back into its spot.
