Hmm...We have owned a 2006 Malibu since 2008. We have always known that the brake light situated in the trunk lid 'flutters/flashes' when brakes are applied.This does not effect the regular brake lights. It can be a bit annoying to those following the vehicle. We never had this looked at. Now, the car is with my son as he completes college. He has been pulled over twice and given warnings about this problem. Please tell me if this is a common and/or easily fixed problem. Thanks!

Check the connections at the brake light for looseness and corrosion. Make sure there is a good ground at the light.
