What's does everyone think about the demise of the 2013 Malibu Eco? I am almost beside myself that GM actually sold a more expensive 2013 hybrid with eAssist only to replace it with a more fuel efficient non-hybrid the following year! Thoughts anyone?

 

I was shocked to find out my 2013 Malibu eco (eAssist) is no more!
To quote GM when the 2013 Malibu came out: "GM's eAssist as a modestly priced fuel economy package, compared to full hybrids, that produces a nice boost in mileage. The system also uses a stop-start system. But it also utilizes a lithium ion battery in the trunk, regenerative braking and a small electric motor to assist the 2.4-liter engine under heavy loads, such as when merging into highway traffic".

I bought my Malibu loaded, sticker was $31.5K. Now KBB and NADA says this loaded Malibu is only worth $18K-$20K trade-in price, (only has 10k miles), and you know dealers will quote the "black-book" (auction) price if I trade this car in soon, which will bring it down to $16-$17k.

To be honest, I love the car, and have had NO problems.
Milage avg is 30-34mpg, and up to 40mpg on trips, w/o air-condition on.
The only complaint I have is the seats are hard, and not much room for passengers.
