Need to jiggle my shifter : 2000, Automatic.
I have full power. Lights all come on and what not.
I have to turn the key all the way to start and shake the shifter for it to start. It happened for the first time yesterday. I drove around for a bit today and it was fine, then I got stuck at the gas station for a while trying to get it to start again.
It will NOT start in neutral when this happens.
I assume there is some sort of sensor telling the car that it is not in park? If this is the case, can you ballpark a cost of repair?

Welcome to the forum. It sounds like a faulty park/neutral position switch a.k.a. neutral safety switch. Probably ~$150 + hour or so labor at a service department. Why don't you call around?
