Default Ooookay. Where the heck is the tranny dipstick?

I've got a new to me 2006 Malibu 3.5L automatic. I have seen some spotting under the car and want to check the tranny fluid. Where did they put the dipstick?

does not have a trans dipstick. it has a fill plug on the side of the transmission housing.
the level is checked when the trans fluid is 40*C, running in park...raised on a hoist. do not open the plug with the engine off.

I take it the engineer responsible for that wasn't subject to random drug testing...

So assume no hoist but shadetree / driveway mechanic, Is the idea just get it up and level?

Where is the said fill plug and what do you do just fill it till it spills out?

yea get the transmission (not engine) warmed up and have it level, the plug is on the passenger side and should take a 11 or 7/16 socket. Idling in park and warmed up the fluid should just barely come out of the plug.

This is becoming more and more common in a lot of makes....can't say I like it though.

at least there is a method...most new products require a special service dipstick and scan tool....some can't be checked....you have to drain and refill. they are not built for shadetrees or even non factory shops in some cases.
