Default Performace Chips Question

I see these performance chips advertised that can increase HP up to 35 hp. Has anyone placed these chips in their car? What results have you experienced? Do they hurt the car in anyway? Do they void the warranty?

Thanks in advance

I used to get asked this question once a week. Now it's starting to die off. Those chips are worthless. They will increase the performance about as much of a chip from a bag of Lays will. They don't "trick" the computer into anything. It makes the car run rich (which can damage O2 Sensors and catalytic converter). There are other disadvantages to running rich; you'll have to replace your spark plugs more often because it will foul them, you will have a power loss and you'll burn more fuel.

The power loss will be because of 2 things. One, the car will not be running on the proper fuel map, there for it is not efficiently tuned. Two, eventually the cat will clog and it will probably inhibit the car from running. Granted you are talking prolonged use with this "chip".

Stay away from them.
