Power Tap in Shift Console

Power Tap in Shift Console
This is an 08 Malibu LT.
I like my wires concealed.
I would like to hide a 12V<->USB-Style power inverter in the front of the shift console. Ideally, it would hook up to a "switched" circuit (powered either in the accessory or run position) as opposed to the always-powered power port (which is already overloaded as soon as the wife and daughter get in the car). I'm not going to draw much more than an Ampere, probably less on 12V side at full load.
What circuit would you use and what color wire would that be?
Peace
Phroggie
