questions about an 02 malibu...check engine
Hello all, Sorry for a long post.
My g/f has an 2002 malibu. She had the check engine light come on last week. we took it in to AutoZone. The guy told us it was the TQ converter. We had to wait to get it to a real place to look at it. Well she stopped to get gas and got back on the road the day before I scheduled the local shop to look at it. Once she got back on the road the engine light went off. Well she drove it for a day and just maybe 20 minutes before meeting me at the shop the light came back on again.
The shop found two codes.
1) oil pressure switch.
2) clutch slipping.
The shop said both codes would cause the light to come on.
But does anyone know why the light would go off then back on?
I am having the shop replace the oil pressure switch and they are replacing the trans fluid/filter. They will also clear the codes.
Will dirty fluid cause the trans to slip? the car has about 115k and I am not sure when if ever the fluid has been changed. but she said it has not acted weird at all.
Thanks
James
