Default Recirulating Air - A/C ALWAYS On

First, sorry if there is a post on this already. I stink at finding previous posts in forums.

I have a 2009 Malibu LT2. Recently I took it for a check-up and I think something happened to my A/C. I do not remember prior to bringing my car in for service that when you turn on Recirculating Air the A/C DEFAULTS to ON and without the Indicator Light for the A/C lit. So, I hit the button to actually turn on the A/C and the light comes on and of course, the A/C should be on at his point.

Why can't I recirculate air without the A/C being on? Again, the indicator light does not even have to be lit and A/C is on.

Welcome to the forum. What you've observed is normal, the Recirculation button silently engaging the A/C compressor with Fan Control on. I don't know when it started but all GM vehicles of late do that.

ChevyMalibu2009,

This is normal. The compressor will run to clear condensation inside the vehicle while recalculating the air.

Thank you,
