Slow Acceleration
I own a 05 Malibu 4 cylinder.
Right now I'm starting to notice that the acceleration from a complete stop is really slow and the RPMs have go up to 4500-5000rpm. Once I make it to 60km/h and there is a change in gear everything seems back to normal. The RPM (about 2500) and acceleration is fine after I make it pass the first gear.
Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it?
Also right now some of the transmission fluid is dripping (gasket needs to be replaced) and I'm going to get that fixed this week. Is it related to this?

So it turns out the problem was my low transmission fluid level. I was leaking some transmission fluid from a failed transmission gasket. After the dealership had replaced the gasket and did a transmission fluid flush the car's acceleration was back to normal
