I have a 2015 Malibu with the 2.5 Ecotec engine. The original engine threw a rod and I have another engine installed but am trying to figure out if something is missing. On the exhaust manifold side next to the exhaust manifold on the rear of the engine by the hoses there is a flange with two bold holes. I have looked everywhere for what goes there but cannot find anything. that I took off the old engine nor anything on the newer engine. I took the old head and poured water down that hole and it came out of some of the holes in the head. Just wondering what goes there if anything? Even if something does go there I have no extra electrical connector so thinking maybe it's just left open and checking pictures of these engines all of them have just an empty flange.
