Default Underhood fuse and relay box problem

On my son's 2003 malibu the air condioner has stopped working. I took the relay cover off under the hood. The #16 relay for the compressor is so loose in the socket that i think it may be causing a problem. There is no resistance at all when pulling out the relay. It feels like there is nothing there for the relay to connect with. But i know there is power there cause i probed with a multimeter and have 12 volts on 2 of the slots. The other day while the car was running i sort of rocked the relay a bit and the compressor came on, then back off so i think there is a problem there. Is it possible to get inside this relay box to determine what is wrong? Or if not could someone tell me how i could tie in to the correct wires and install a remote relay for this. I bought this car for him back about 6 months ago and the air has had a problem the whole time.I've been trying to figure out how to do this for a couple of weeks now and its been past the century mark each day for most of that time, so i would surely like to get a fix for this....thanks

someone may have spread the terminal pins by jamming a test probe in it. Sometimes you can bend them back with a small pick.

the other option is difficult if you never done one. unlock and remove the terminal from the back of the fuse box.
