The starter for a 2006 Malibu was installed on a 2007 Malibu. The car will not start and sounds as if the timing belt/chain has broken. Could the wrong starter be the cause of this problem to the four cylinder engine? It ran fine before we shut it off. Thanks.

 

Try checking Rockauto and see if the parts number is the same - is so then the part should fit. Maybe installed wrong/needs shims??
Work by you or mechanic? New starter or used?
