Default 1985 Monte Carlo, my first car and had since 1998. Sell or Junk?

Hey guys, looking for some advice. I've had my 1985 Monte Carlo 4.3L fuel inject LS, since I was in High School in 1998, about 22yrs now. I've held onto it more for sentimental value now. Thinking I'd fix it up one day, but that's probably not going to happen.. It used to look great, always had people offering to buy it off me. But over the years of sitting outside it's taken it's toll on the body. It's rusting away, the tires are 10yrs old, it's been backed into, so it has a smashed in driver's door (still opens and closes though), among other issues. It still starts and runs, but I see it as a project/or parts car for someone or possibly being towed away for scrap. Right before I stopped driving it about 2012, I had the transmission rebuilt. It has about 165k miles on it, and I've done a lot of work to it over the years but Midwest winters has just been rusting it away. What would be the value on this car? Is it worth trying to sell it? The brakes don't brake too well, I think it just need a brake fluid exchange from sitting for so long. So with brakes not stopping too well, and the tires being so old, I really don't want people driving it around testing either as it could be dangerous for the driver, especially a young inexperienced one.

What am I best doing with a car like this?

Thank you.

Welcome from Florida. How bad is the rust? Post some pics. I guess it all depends on the sentimental value and how bad the rust is.

In it's prime it was a lovely vehicle. But outdoors and no use for years has not been kind, sorry. Probably could be resurrected by someone with lots of time, patience and money, but if that's not you, I would try to sell it to save her, or off to the bone yard if no takers.

I grew up in Park Forest(just south of Chicago). I tell people our cars rust up to the windows.

If you are not sentimental enough to keep it or you can't, find out what you'd get from the junkyard and price it 10% higher. If it runs and doesn't make any funny noises someone will buy it.
