Default 1995 Chevy Lumina

1. Lumina has had problems with the electric fans coming on after the car is cut off. they will run for hours until the battery is dead. I replaced the fan relays but it hasnt helped. HOW DO YOU MAKE IT WHERE THE FANS WILL ONLY COME ON WHEN THE KEY IS ON?

2. Driving down the road and car just died. will not turn over. tried to jump off but battery is fully charged. iknow to check the key and power to the starter but feel like this is more of an electrical problem. is there a starter relay that could be going bad?

There is a temp sensor that controls the fan(s). I don't know if it is powered all the time, but suspect it is. That (I think it is powered all the time) to cool the radiator even after the engine is off if needed. I have a 96 and thats one problem I haven't had with it.

Now, dies while driving? I assume it will not crank? Do you have a security light on at that time?

everything i am reading is saying that the 3.1L OHV motor is an Interference Motor. Before i waist any time with the timing belt, how can i tell if i have done any damage to the pistons or valves?

Have you checked the oil? These are notorious for lower intake gasket leaks, and you will get anti-freeze into the oil.

oil looks fine. had new lower intake gasket replaced along with head gaskets and heads machined and valves seated 2 years ago. i will check again since i have been trying to turn it over a few times yesterday evening. if oil is milky that means i have done some damage. if not , am i in the clear?

Yes, and the level is correct. I checked anti freeze in my car, it kept disappearing, so after adding it twice, thierd time I pulled the dip stick, and thats where it was going.
