Default 2004 Monte Carlo Dimmer Switch Problem

I wired in a new cd player into my monte carlo and i forgot to disconnect the negitive battery and after i had it installed i have no dash board lights, no tail lights, and a very dim odometer. When talking to the car installation guy at best buy he said its probably my dimmer switch is fried because the illumination wire grounded to something. i checked all my fuses and they are fine. Can some one comfirm, deny, or give me other things to check besides just the dimmer switch?
