Default 99 Lumina front left tire acting weird.

The front left tire seems to be locking up or get caught in reverse. When I'm in drive it seems to be fine, but when I'm in reverse these is a loud roaring/bumping sound, practically not allowing me to move the car in reverse. People who have watched the tire when I move in reverse says it looks like the tire is going to vibrate off. I'm not even going to pretend I know a lot about cars, because I don't. But I've searched and looked extensively as to what the problem might be without getting it looked at by a mechanic, because I didn't have the money to fix it. Now I do, and I was hoping to get some idea of what it might be before taking to a mechanic. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Sounds like a drive axel issue. It may be loose or not connecting properly anymore.
