Default DTC P0751 A/T 1-2 shift solenoid

Hey whats up guys, hope all is well. So i have a 02 MONTE CARLO LS and my obd scanner just gave me this code A/T 1-2 shift solenoid -No 1st or 4th gear (4T65-E), i was reading and it says the most common cause is because a clogged trany filter, dirty or low fluid, so I was wondering for this code will a simple fluid and filter change do the job or should I replace the solenoids as well I am not sure what to do but I dont want to take it to a shop and they try to have me pay for a big job that isnt even required. Also when i was checking my fluid level i smelled the dipstick because i read you can tell a lot about your car from the smell and it had a bad smell and some bubbles up by the level accuracy area. If anyone can please help me or give me tips on what I should do I would really appreciate it. Thanks guys, and hope you all have a great day.
I am a bit new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would do the fluid and filter first, if that cures the problem then there would be no need for the solenoids. Which code was shown with the scanner?

Someone said that my solenoids are in my transmission fluid pan so when I change the fluid I can change the solenoid as well, is this true because i am not sure where they are and I do not want to drain and replace the new fluid i just put in there if that isnt where its located. Again i have a 2002 monte carlo LS can you please let me know where to find the solenoids. Thank you.

Yes the pan needs to be dropped to access the valve body. If you're not sure what you're doing then you might want to leave it to a professional.
Fluid can be captured and reused. But I would check the other possible causes first. Sometimes fluid can get into the electrical connectors.
