Default Headlight Idea

Hey guys I'm new to the forum so please take it easy on me....

I've got a 1996 Lumina with 214,000 miles on it. It's been a good car. I've been driving it since about 170,000 with no major repairs. I've done most of the maintenance myself so I know my way around the car pretty well.

Anyway, one thing that has always irritated me about this car is that when you turn on the brights it shuts off the low beams. I drive a lot on empty country roads and it would be nice to have the extra light. I installed some fog lights ($15 at Walmart and 3 hours of work) and they really improved my night time driving.

I haven't been able to find a wiring diagram detailed enough to figure out what I have to do to make the lows and highs stay on at the same time. I have the wiring digrams from autozone and the chilton's manual. I imagine it's just a wire that needs to be cut or something. Does anyone have a detailed enough wiring diagram or any ideas?
