Default How to restore original look of center tail light section 98 Z34

I have a 98 Z34 Monte and have recently been getting it cleaned up as much as possible. The car is white and still looks great but the center section of the tail lights that is black is starting to show its age. It has began to look almost chalky. I was hoping to find a good way to restore it to its factory shine. Ive considered using a powerball and some plastic x but would like to hear other opinions first. Thanks for your time.
