Default Lumina Mass Air Flow Sensor

I have a 1999 Chevy Lumina LTZ with a 3.8 engine. My mass air flow sensor is acting up and I need to replace. Got part numbers from dealer. They are AC Delco 213-4337 and GM 19179715 but they want 270.00 which is a little steep. I've been looking around trying to find something else. Alot of sites I've seen mention a AFH50M-05 number which I think is Hitachi. I know the throttle body says Hitachi on it. Would this work in my application or are there any suggestions on how to get a sensor cheaper? Is there any web sites that show the cross overs for part numbers. There are no numbers on my current sensor. Thanks

szn9rg,

I would suggest looking for a '99 Lumina mass air flow sensor from gmpartsgiant.com. Typically, they sell OEM GM parts for considerably less than other e-tailers out there.

I don't think that the Hitachi unit is OEM but it would probably still work with your application. When it comes to integral sensors like the MAF, however, I tend to stay away from non-OEM. It's one thing to buy cheap-o oil filters but on more complex parts such as sensors it's a sage idea to stick with the parts originally employed in your Lumina

Question

Thanks for the info. Gmpartsgiant didn't have any MAFS's for Lumina's. Said they were not available. I visited a auto salvage yard yesterday and saw several 3800 engines and the MAFS's all had the number AFH50M-05 on them but I wasn't sure what year the engine was. I would think that the engine would use the same MAFS for different model years but not sure. Not sure if I should roll the dice if the price was right and try one from the salvage yard. The MAFS looks identical to the one on my car but don't know if the frequencies for the signal are the same. HELP

Problem solved. Put in AFH50M-05 from salvage yard and zeroed code. Hasn't thrown a code for 1 1/2 days so far and runs better. This part appears to be compatiable thit gm and Delco #. Thanks
