Default 02 Chevy 2500HD 6.0L 2wd 4L80E no OD no R no codes

Decided to join this forum for the fact I'm always messing with Chevy. Recently been messing around with transmission stuff. So today a got a new project it's a 02 Chevy 2500 HD 6.0L 2wd 4L80E. So what's going on with it is OD and R is not working I don't have any out of ordenary nosies. I do know there's a lot of fluid in the main wiring harness plug. So what I'm hoping will fix it is 1 I dropped the pan 2 I unplugged the harness 3 I pulled the transmission plug out 4 I sprayed both the plug and connector out with brake cleaners to get all of the trans fluid out 5 once the plug and connector dry out I'm going to fill the backside that stays in the trans with gasket maker 6 dielectric grease in the plug and connector parts that stay out side of the transmission. I've done this to a trans that was slipping and going into limpmode it fixed it. But the no OD and no R idk just figured I'd give it a try and see before I sink Serious money into having it rebuilt. Also there are no codes pending at all I checked with my OBDII scanner. Also I noticed on my way home with it a hot trans fluid light came on but went away. What can bebcausing my fluid to get hot?Anyone else have any other suggestions?
