Hey everyone! New here looking for some help with my issue. I have a 1975 chevy scottsdale small block 350. My truck was working perfectly fine until one day it started sputtering and backfiring. It was like it was in limp mode. Once I got it home and looked at it, it would start and idle great. It's when I gave it gas is it hesitated/ stalled. I thought it needed a tune up. So I put new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. That didn't fix it. I replaced both of the fuel filters. No fix. So I asked someone for help and they said it was the accelerator pump. I don't know how to rebuild a carburetor so I bought a refurbished one on rockauto. That didn't fix the issue either. Any suggestions? Thank you!

 

Put a Holley Four-Barrel carburetor on it, if it came with the Quadajet. If the primaries are small but the secondaries are large, it's a Q-Jet, the worst carb in North America. If it's not let me know and I can likely help you to rebuild your non Q-Jet carb. First I have to know what carb we are dealing with. The two-barrel Rochester GM carb is a good carb.

 

It's most likely a two barrel carburetor.

Unless you have a dyno and a drag strip, a Q-jet is much easier to tune and work on than a Holley. I've worked on them both.
