5th wheel towing Checy 2500 HD
Hello Chevy lovers
After years I finally made the switch and purchase Chevy 2500 HD LTZ over Ford F250, So far love the truck, especially AC seats being down south that a great feature. Anyway I upgraded from F150 to Chevy 2500HD due to we will be buying our first 5th wheel. My question is who all tows a 5th wheel with there Chevy 2500. what is the weight of the 5th wheel. The one we are buying Keystone Cougar 315RLS weighs 10,560 Dry weight, with tongue weight 2090 lbs, With adding 1,500 lbs on items to 5th wheel will take my weight to 12,000 lbs. From my research add about 400 to tongue weight with payload 2,500.00. Then adding passenger weight and hitch weight and extras, 600 lbs. With puts me at 3,100 pds. Max payload is 3,350 lbs, Tow weight for 5th goose neck trailer is 18,000 lbs. I know I will be close but will the truck handle the tow or am I pushing my limits and need to go to a lighter 5th wheel.
Kind of curious who pulls 5th wheels with there Chevy 2500, what is your weight and do you have any issues, yes I know I could went to 3500,and 8 ft bed, but for everyday use I really did not want to go to the big of truck, we are part time RV. If a 5th wheel is to much, I guess revert to travel trailer.
Thanks for the help
