looking to buy a chevy belair 62. but it almost sounds like its not running on all cylinders. do you think this could be a major problem? its a strait 6 in pretty rough shape. but runs and drives!

 

It could also be a minor problem. The Chevy straight 6 was a pretty tough engine. Check the condition of the ignition system. Do a compression check. Depending on the condition of the car and the asking price, it still might be a good buy!

 

Its in pretty rough condition, but its all there . runs and drives. also noticed little bit of smoke coming out of the oil filler hole on top the valve cover. Anyone know what that could be? I do not have anything to do a compression test. and the guy wants it gone asap. Feel like I should jump on it for $2000.

 

Is it a 2 door or 4 door? Is it automatic? Do you have pictures you can post?

 

Its a 4 door 3 on the tree. why is there smoke coming out the oil fill hole? any ideas

 

 

Smoke coming out of the oil fill is blowby, that is caused by the actual movement of the internal engine, and ring wear. Replace the pcv valve.
