95 s10 4.3 liter v6 tranny issue
I have a 95 chevy s10 4.3 liter v6 i had bought for 850 dollars. It's been a great lil truck and i want to fix her up but just recently ik she sat for 2 years before driving again and the previous owner was a hunter and hauled large deer in the back and now ive noticed my transmission will shift hard from 1st to second and shift hard when putting it into gear. My brother was explaining to me and i understand but i cant afford another vehicle right now and i have a garnishment out of my checks that takes if not all off my checks and when taxes come in our takes all that as well so looking for a way to keep my truck going and last a lil longer
My 1996 C1500 used to have some intermittent hard shifts, back before it had 100,000 miles on it, and I serviced the transmission, smoothing things out significantly, and it has gone another 100,000+ and is up to 201,800 now.
You may want to service the transmission, by dropping the pan and replacing the filter and fluid, and see if that helps. HOWEVER, do *NOT* go to a shop and have them "flush" the transmission to do a full fluid change. With unknown maintenance and mileage on the transmission, you risk busting loose lots of deposits and gunking up the works, causing a failure, if you flush the transmission. Just a simple drain the pan and refill is what you want here.
Do you have any maintenance records showing transmission fluid service in the past?
