Red face C1500 acceleration issue

Hey my name is diesel, i was wondering if anyone had any pointers on an issue that i have with my 1995 c1500 5.7 350 2wd. When the truck is in park and i hit the gas the engine revs as it should but when i put it in drive it takes a while to get up to speed. If i even floor the gas from a stop the engine revs only as if i am barely pressing it and takes off slowly. I am not sure if a cable needs to be adjusted or if it has anything to do with the tranny.

You have a check engine light? Sounds like could be a throttle position sensor. I am not sure at what point the ecm looks at that in relationship to the transmission being in gear as opposed to being in park.

Can you manually increase the throttle cable from under the hood?
