Hello, New to this forum. I have owned GM all my life. Mainly Camaros. Getting into restoring a 77 g20 for my 22yr old daughter. She travels across country and loves the g-bodies. Been looking across the contry for one.Just bought one in Georgia and drove it to Jersey . 812 miles,13 hrs. The only gauge that works is the battery, motor is noisey as hell , sounded like it's ready to blow up. Would never attempt a drive like that with anything other than an old Chevy small block. I have my work cut out for me on this one. Drive train, suspension, mechanical is not a problem for me. Going to rebuild the 350 and install either a 700r or a 4l60 trans.The body work is something im not to good with.. Got this van being there is not any body rot but been banged up a little. Not finding much online about interchangeable parts per years online. This is a cargo style with rear door windows.
we are looking to add slider windows and rear tear drop windows to each side. May also be looking to change the doors vrs repairing. Trying to see of anybody can point me into the right direction. Looking to learn all I can on these vans from the 60s til 95.
