Fuel gage

Default Fuel gage

Hello everyone I have a 01 Silverado 2500 HD ls 6.0 2x4 question turn key off take key out get out of truck all gages are off close the door about 20 sec or less fuel gage turns back on open door again bounces back to empty? I'm a ex lube and tire technician so I know little about alot but this 1 is a mind ****

I would love to open the dash and connect a meter to the fuel gauge while I was sitting in the vehicle and see just what is going on. If power is coming from within or some other source. What ever is affecting that gauge should be verified is only the gauge and not other components too.
