Howdy y'all! Newbie with an old van
Howdy!
I just wanted to drop by and say hello from the beautiful coastal bend of South Texas.
I just joined the forum today. A friend of mine suggested that this might be a good place to get information on my old '99 Chevy Express. It's barely broke in; it's got only about 170K miles on it. I picked it up brand spanking new at a dealership in Richardson. I've been pretty happy with the van and it's been pretty reliable too. I've only had to have towed twice! And in those 11 years since I've owned the van, I've only had to do routine maintenance and replace a few things:
- radiator
- water pump
- power steering pump (twice, and it's leaking again)
- distributor cap and rotor (twice, don't ask why)
- fuel pump (yeah, and they changed the connectors on me)
- pair of heads
Other than that the van it's been pretty good. I've driven it from Texas to Miami and the Keys, to Montreal (yeah in the Great White North), to Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado, New Mexico, and pretty much all around. I still haven't taken it to the west coast. I figure I'd do that after I break it in. I don't hear of nothing good going on out there, so I'm in no big hurry. Did I mention that it's my travelling, hunting, fishing, camping vehicle? Oh, and when the wife is really upset, it's also the dog house.
I don't know how long the van and I have together, but I'm going to try to keep on vanning as long as I can.
Cheers y'all and happy Chevying!
