I have a 1994 chevy 1500 Silverado 4x4 and it runs great but when I take off it will not shift out of first gear until I lift my foot off the gas then it shifts fine unless I stop again and have to start all over. the speedometer works fine and no weird noises. I don't know what to check.

FWIW when my son's 2004 Tahoe did that, he had to put a rebuilt tranny in it. Fourtunately he had had it serviced by BG which has a warranty which paid for the tranny.
