New to CF, and just looking around
I have noticed that there are several people talking about their high mileage chevy trucks. I think that Chevrolet should read some of these posts, and contact these high mileage folks, and offer to make a commercial about the long lasting service these trucks give.
I own a 1993 Chevy Cheyenne 1/2 ton, it's the WT1500, with the 4.3 V6.It's 2 WD, 5 spd trans, with 5th being OD. The only thing that I have had to do of any major maintenance is replace the clutch, and it really didn't need it when I did that. I had a bad vibration coming from the trans., when I released the clutch. It was the pilot bearing. It had worn into an egg shape, and was causing the vibration. I had the intake gasket replaced because it was leaking. The engne has never been torn down, it is still stock from the factory. I am proud to say that it has 422,000 on the odometer, and still runs strong. The body has the typical chevy rust, and keeps getting worse, but I'm no body man, so I'll drive it till I can't drive it anymore. My goal is 500,000, and then I may think about retiring it. The mileage should be no problem to meet, for it's my daily driver, and thats approximately 100 miles a day round trip to my job and back home. If and when I decide to purchase another truck, it will be a chevy, and most likely a 4.3 V6. I will probably opt for the automatic this time, I'm getting too old to shift gears any more. I love this old truck, and wish I could restore it, but money wise, it just won't allow it.
