Default New kid on the block

Thanks everyone for allowing me to join. Die hard Chevy fan here and need some input...Just about pulled the trigger on buying a 2004 Aveo and lucky for me started reading up on the reviews..OMG...Chevy really blew this one regarding the timing belt issue...Hasn't GM sent out a recall on this yet...The horror stories. The one I was looking at has 51,000 miles on it...I thought great...Low miles on a 2004...Can't pass that up can ya ? But all of the negative reviews is steering me away. On the other hand how difficult is it to change a timing belt ? An upgraded one...Does one need any special tools. I'm mechanically inclined and work on all my vehicles...94 chevy stepside with 211,000 miles going strong and a 89 transam gta pushing 400 ponies.

Apprciate any input...
