New to me Cavalier
Hi my name is John and I just purchased my first Chevy, which is a 1994 Cavalier. It's also a project car of sorts. I bought this from the original owner's son, the lady bought it new in September 1993 and only put 82,000 on it in 20 years, but at the end of 2013 was involved in an accident in a parking lot and it has sat since. It runs and drives wonderfully and still looks pretty good, (aside from the damage) I have a replacement quarter panel from a Sunbird that came with it. The only option it appears to have is the radio, no A/C, 5-spd. I only paid $600 for it, and amazingly it's not rusty, except where the metal tore in the accident. I've always really liked this generation, but it's not very often you see them on the roads anymore where I live.
I'm wondering what to do with the damaged quarter. The door shuts fine and doesn't rattle, but it's really unsightly. I thought i'd cut out the bad part, then use the Sunbird panel as a patch, because behind the dent the quarter is fine, although the panel is a very faded blue. I don't think I can just pull the dent and bondo it. It had to be cut so the strike could line back up with the door again. I had the idea to swap the quarter skins, but I don't know if that's practical.
