A New Mechanic Enters the Realm!
Greetings everybody!
New owner of a overly abused 99 cavalier 2 door 2.2. It was pretty much unloaded on to me.. i have had this car for about 5 months now?
So some history behind this cavalier... It sat in someones back yard for years! How many? I don't know! but I did know that it did not run or have any use of brakes what so ever... This is all I knew...
This vehicle has many of my hours wrenching on it now!
It does run pretty good now. I drive it everyday pretty much now! But all the kinks/jerry rigging are not worked out of it yet.... I should take a pic under the hood for you guys sometime lol.
I have replaced a lot of sensors with the help of my ODB reader, pretty much all of them except for minor ones like coolant level light. super minor stuff... but they all do work now!
My brakes needed a new line to the farthest point! rear passenger? I used a new complete solid line, no piecing together for me thank you!
and ahhh the intake...... its terrible! lol. but I still have the ram air box suprisingly!
This car HAS BEEN TOTALED! rebuilt title shows this. its all front end damage. my guess was a head on collision? but it drives a strait line!
all and all, its not a bad car really. I did have to work at it to get it this far though..
So I have replaced-
1 long brake line
loads of sensors
all rubber hoses
spark plugs/wires
all front lights and the wires to them (the oem harness was badly corroded, I cut the wires off the terminal and soldered my own lines in and added one more ground. so one on each side of the head lamps.)
exhaust manifold + gaskets
a lot of missing bolts of various sizes under the hood
oil of course
air element
flushing of the cooling system and heater core
But I still need to do a few more things to make it completely worry free!
I do have an check engine light on due to an exhaust leak..
Cavalier has 190,000 miles on it
I live in Indiana USA, hey rust how ya doin?!
I am not new to working on cars. In fact I have many hobbies mostly with electronics and the such.
Thanks for your time!
