Default New member intro

Hi forum members, I am Cal from NL, Canada. I'm driving a 2018 Chev Silverado 1500 with 5.3 engine. Currently has 116000 kms on my vehicle. Decided to join forum because I am concerned with a clunking noise in the rear when I change from drive to reverse or vice versa and also sometimes when the truck changes to a lower gear driving through town. Wondering what might be the cause.....rear end issue, universal joint issue, or no issue at all. Anyone else experienced this with their truck?

Welcome to Chevrolet Forum, Cal !

It would be best if you post this issue on the proper forum for your Chevrolet Silverado pickup. It is the Current Pickup and SUV sub-forum which has a place to post the issues with your Chevy Silverado pickup.

However, I would jack up the rear of your Silverado and see if there is any play when twisting the driveshaft. Maybe even pull the rear axle cover off and check it out as well. If you haven't done so, it would be a good idea to change the fluid on the axle anyhow.

Welcome from Florida. Check the universals first. My 2013 did something similar and it was a bad pinion bearing. Luckily it was still under warranty at the time and it was repaired for free.
